Abenobashi begins splendidly as a swimmingly hilarious parody. Sasshi and Arumi are fun characters, and the different incarnations of Osaka are fun to watch. The serious bits near the end, however, feel suspiciously like a redo of Evangelion in a comedy format, and therefore are less satisfying, leaving a bit of a bitter aftertaste. Watch the first few episodes (especially the hilarious parodies of classic SF), and leave it at that.
