Story

Set in a post-apocalyptic version of Earth sometime near the end of the 20th century, a nuclear war has left the world in ruins, causing the oceans to evaporate and destroying most of the world's vegetation. Most of earth's survivors include villagers who try to thrive on what little resources they have and the numerous vicious gangs and tribes who prey on them. A martial artist named Kenshiro, a man with seven scars on his chest and the chosen successor of the legendary assassin's art Hokuto Shinken, The Divine Fist of the Northern Dipper) has sworn to protect the weak and innocent from the malicious gangsters that threaten their survival. Accompanied by two young children named Bat and Lin, Ken confronts numerous violent gangs through his journey. Eventually Ken faces his adoptive brothers who were also trained in the art of Hokuto Shinken, as well as the six top masters of the Nanto Seiken (The Sacred Fist of the South Star) school. His ultimate adversary is his eldest brother Raoh, a would-be world conqueror who broke the Hokuto Shinken law by refusing to give up the style.

Several years after Ken defeats Raoh, he returns to help his former sidekicks Bat and Lin, now leader of the Hokuto Army, to fight off against the tyranny of the Heavenly Emperor's Army led by the Acting Governor Jakoh. Not long after Jakoh's defeat, Lin is kidnapped and Ken is forced to travel to the Land of Shura to rescue her, a land of Warriors ruled by Kaioh, who uses the style of Hokuto Ryuken (The North Star Lapis Lazuli Fist), a malicious counterpart to Ken's Hokuto Shinken. After defeating Kaioh and rescuing Lin, Ken wanders off into the desert, continuing his journey.

In this TV animated cartoon, there are a lot of violence scenes.
However, this animated cartoon is not the animated cartoon of simple poetic justice.
However, now, it is suspected that this animated cartoon is the animated cartoon which has a bad influence on children. It is regrettable. I think that this animated cartoon is a masterpiece.
I like this animated cartoon.

I watched this anime in french (called ken le survivant) and it's along with saint seiya my favourite anime. It has an awesome storyline and great characters. My favourite characters are ray and the mighty raoh. It's cool to see that traditional japanese values found their way into it. Nearly in every episode there's someone sacrificing his life for a good cause :)
Lots of blood and gore .. ok, but there's much more to it. The first 15 episodes tend to be a bit boring but after those it gets better. Don't forget to watch the episodes from the second season. They are even better than the first!

I remember seeing that a long time ago, before Manga Corp. brought it back, that was so cool when he walked through that building as it fell! Sure the blood was alittle watery on the audio side, but hey, if you can blow up heads by touching it, Im not complainin' anymore.

Unlike allot of you people I grew up watching anime.I have seen just about everything in the United States at least a little.Fist of the North Star is not only the greatest movie,comic,TV series but it's the greatest of all time.Those pussy characters from Dragon Ball Z would not last a second in Ken's world and as far as storyline this movie is more complex than any American movie I have ever seen.Do any of you people under stand how any of the powers work I bet allot of you people think Hokuto No Ken is something made up but it's an actual martial art from China every thing you see in that movie exist in real life unlike some super fake unreal martial arts anime's.No hero in anime has more class then Ken.No villain can stand up to Raoul.
No other movie has a better ending shore Ken is face down in the ground but in loosing did Ken actually win would Raoul have changed his mind If Ken would have beaten him.Would Raoul change his mind about the world.What about the little girl did she win the day with a flower?I never hear any one on any web site talking about things like this which doesn't say allot for human brain power how many of you people pay no attention to the story and just look at the blood probably 99%.You people can't handle a little blood just about every uncensored anime has blood if you can't handle it why are you watching anime any way?????

This anime is awesome. The only drawback is that Kenshiro explains what he did to his enemy.

My brother convinced me to see it assuring me it was great. Instead, I found that it had a stupid storyline, horrible animation, and characters even more pathetic than the fighting scenes(if that is even possible). Sorry to any fans but I felt like I had wasted 2 hours of my life just watching this anime!

this movie sucked. Kenshiro was not half as bad ass as he was in the comic. from his overly heroic voice down to his aattaahhss. this movie doesnt do justice to the fist. and his girlfriends name is YURIA NOT JULIA DAMNIT so get it right.
