While I've already written an extensive review of this title elsewhere, I'll paraphrase it for the purposes of this website.

When asked to relate "what is good" about Apocalypse Zero, I find myself at a loss, because I really can't find anything remotely worthwhile. The plotting is hysterically bad -- why are these kids still going through the motions of school in an apocalyptic wasteland? Not to mention that they're invariably so stupid that how they even survive the day becomes a great mystery of Japanese animation.

The mutants are offensive and disgusting, and this definitely feels like they intended to throw as much grotesque material at the screen as possible, with little to no heed paid to art quality, animation framerates, plot, or characterization. The English language release, localized for some reason as "Apocalypse Zero", plays everything for laughs, with loudly delivered lines such as "I guess I'll need a little help from my WEENIE!" which really, really doesn't help matters at all, not to mention the fact that the dubbers somehow get Harara's gender wrong.

Among us English-language reviewers, Apocalypse Zero has a reputation for being one of the worst anime ever released, and while I tried to give it a chance, ANY chance of success, this simply came off as an crass, obscene, embarrassing disaster. To quote Hamuko as she's squeezing the guts out of a hapless schoolgirl: "It's what's on the inside that counts." Trust me, you don't want to look inside this anime ... unless you're a guro fan, in which case, more power to you and don't tell me about it.

Animation which feels "preparedness" as a title.
