This was the first anime I ever watched. As a 7 year old I found it intriguing, and my parents can probably quote it almost as well as I can. Happily, at age 16 I still find it just as good. Mizhazaki-sama (sp? I'm so sorry...) is famous for his animation, and his most recent film released in America, Spirited Away, is sure to become a cult classic.
Back to Totoro. The story is simple enough for young children to follow, and the main characters, especially Totoro, are very cute and fun to watch. But it gets deeper than that. Watching it again when I was older, I had a greater comprehension of the Japanese culture and appreciated the rather accurate portrayal of life in rural Japan. Minus Totoros of course. Totoro is fun for people of all ages, and is sure to put a smile on your face. I can still never open an umbrella without grinning uncontrollably. Suffice it to say, I searched near and far to find a copy of the VHS and upon finally finding one at a local library squealed in joy. That's the only problem. This is an older movie, but never fear! Amazon to the rescue! You can get it on Amazon.com for something like $12 American.

This anime is quite peaceful one...but gave us very good impression and I could enjoy this one.

On of the first anime that i have ever watched. I always thought that Totoro wasn't a real animal, but later i found out he was a chinchilla. Now i want a chinchilla!

I know Totoro isn't real, but I wanna go and see Japan. When I grow older I am going to build a house like the one that Mei and Satsuki live in. I'll also make sure that there will be a conpher tree.

This is a fantastic piece of anime. Totoro is delightful for adults and kids. whenever I'm feeling sad I pop it in the VCR and giggle like a 5 year old.
