"If you had to sum up One Piece in a single word, "charming" would be my personal choice. There's something infectiously fun about Oda's stories, which have a relentless optimism about them. Watching Luffy round up his first crew member, you quickly get the impression that this is someone who will never take no for an answer... but he's not obnoxious about it either. Instead he's just going to keep smiling and pushing forward until he gets what he wants, no matter the obstacles. What really surprised me as I read One Piece was that the big gimmick of Luffy's stretching powers isn't hideously overused like most other comics would quickly descend to. It's not a catch-all solution, it's simply one option that Luffy sometimes uses and other times keeps in reserve. Even better, Oda keeps Luffy's stretching manoeuvres inventive, rather than falling back on one or two tried-and-true moves.

Oda's art is a great example of how an economy of lines can still portray so much with what looks like the greatest of ease. Luffy's wide-eyed grin is no doubt part of reason for One Piece's charm, with his boundless optimism practically written on his sleeve. For those who have never read a right-to-left book, One Piece is probably one of the best to try because Oda's storytelling is so amazingly clear. Also of note are Oda's great character designs; not just Luffy, but both his supporting cast and the guest-villains. From clown pirates to spoiled rich sons, everyone has a distinct look about them, all while still using just a handful of inks to pull the entire character together.

If there's any justice in the world, One Piece is going to become as much of a massive hit in English as it is in Japanese. One of those rare truly all-ages comics, I find myself reading new installments of One Piece the top priority when a new issue of Shonen Jump shows up. Even better, with the release of collections, a whole new group of readers are about to discover Luffy's adventures.

soo good unlike other animes that don't know when to end, one piece is solidly entertaining... aside from the apis filler-arc i have no complaints with this series ^_^..

One piece is my all time favorite manga. Everything about this manga is beautiful. From the funky art design, to the outrageously awesome stories. It can make you laugh for days, or cry for hours, it's really just that good.

One Piece is simply the best anime and manga I have ever seen (and I've seen a LOT). The art is amazing and different, the characters are suprisingly and refreshingly unique, and this anime and manga is guaranteed to make you laugh, to make you cry, to get you to go for your dreams, and to make you realize that there are good people in this world. There is no anime or manga that can do that; therefore, One Piece goes far beyond the concepts of anime and manga towards a whole other realm of entertainment.

One Piece is the best manga I've read so far! Not only it's very funny....it can make you cry and make you think about...uh...life....too ^_^;
All of the characters are unique and interesting. Really, the atomosphere that Eiichirou Oda creates in his comicbook is just amazing.
