While the animation is rather good and the characters are sometimes interesting, Pumpkin Scissors really comes across as disjointed and schizophrenic, yanking the viewer from lighthearted hijinks to very serious and very depressing war scenes with seemingly little warning. There are some good ideas here, which sometimes lead to good storytelling, and sometimes lead to embarrassingly broad theatrics. Overall, an enjoyable, but mostly average show.
