This is, by far, one of the best anime movies ever made. The quality is so good that it even had a limited theatrical release here in the U.S. about 8-9 years ago.

I loved this anime... it went pretty deep into a few issues, and managed to blend some action and emotion in as well. My only complaint is that it seemed as though there should've been a bit more devellopment of setting and characters.

Gainax made an amazing movie about their own world, it's what started it all for them and it's amazing in it's own right. Plus, the animation is freaking good for the 80s.

I thought this anime really was totally pointless. The storyline was all over the place, and it was really just about religion in the end! I really didn't think it was amazing, but it was watchable.
