The storyline is ok and the characters is pretty interesting, even if they are cliched. I really liked that some characters changing their clothes (Kaiba, Yami,Bakura,Marik), thats rather unusual in anime, especially if we are talking about vilains. Strong point - villains are not defeated forever, their return. Also there is some story plot lacking in Pokemon and the story may have an end (I think its very important and I miss it lot of series,especially not animated ones). The weak point - too much duels. Its really boring and its done so, because the creators were asked put more atention on duels for commerce purposes. It really sucks!!! Also there are unlimited card number and their are practically uncountable. The reason of that - the show is based on duels and new card monsters replaces "monster of the day" for example in Sailormoon. Those monsters of the day is the most annoying things in japanese animes and an obstacle for concentration on characters. Finally, I should say, that commerce intentions always spoiling the best ideas and I think Yu-gi-Oh could be better if there were no cards for sale and other foolish things as it is now. The heart of anime should be ideas, not money. P.S. Its an ok show to watch in my opinion. oh by the way, all those people who curse are fairly over exaggerating and cant say anything better. I really dont know how to play the game right now. I understand the concept of the game but I dont get the whole subtraction of the life points. I dont collect the cards because I know in probably less than 5 years its going to go out just like Pokemon (Pocket Monsters). Most people at my school dont watch Yu-Gi-Oh! and if they do they are Mexican. Not saying that all are, Im not so there. I keep it quiet because to most of the people who dont watch it they think if u get into it, it is an osesive thing which u think about them all the time and u always talk about them and refer back to the episodes plot when ur talking about random subjets in ur conversations. That really doesnt happen to me. I watch the show and then thats it. To me the plot is ok but the other countries shouldnt modify it. They should just make the rating different. It also pains me to hear Joeys "try to be New Yorker" voice. They should pick better voices for the characters especially Pegasis,Mai,Yugi, Joey and Bakura. Whats up with Bacura anyways? He's an albino vest wearing British talking Egyptian Japanese child? Thats a little to much for myself. Whats with Tea anyways? Im surprised she hasnt been beat up or anything. All this talk about friendship and junk is really starting to annoy me. Malik, Pegusisand Isis or should I say Marik and Ishizu (yuck) is the only real people who are really understandible besides Malik and Isis name change and Malik and Pegasis voice. Everybody in anime should know all those fan fics and wierd stories of how yugi and yami love each other and junk like that. ONLY a sick mind would think of that. Whats up with Yugis height? When they were going for the little guy whose in a big plot they over exaggerated that a little bit to far. Hes what 14-15 years old it doesnt bother me so much except for everybody else is taller than him. Even Mokuba! The plot is ok except for the holograms. In the masters of magicians episode the caracters actually looked like they had feelings. And what is this avout the heart of the cards. The heart of the cards only comes at the end of the dule now? Its really corny and i cant believe how many times ive heard some kids who play the game talk about it. This plot is also unbelievable. I dont mind the millenium items and all but they are all Japanese who have Egyptian backrounds? Only Bacura and Yugi are actually the people who are Egypian Japanese people. Malik Isis and Shadi are the only ones who the right to have them because they are Egyptian and have actual backrounds to it. Pegasis is a snobby American who created duel monsterseven though all of his contestants who were on the duel island were Japanese. My favorite is Malik. Even though i sicken when i here that somebody is in love with a cartoon i think Malik is cute. But if u think of how all of these characters will look like if they were living they would look like freaks especially Yugi. I dont like the plot of how Seto and Mokuba are owners of a company who happen to be of duel monsters. First off what does Kaiba really do? Hes in Yugis class so hes like 15 and yet he is the owner of a huge company along with his little brother? thats just wierd. Also what happened to everybodies houses and families? We all know about Joey's life but what about everybody elses. Also i think sometimes the dueling gets in the way of the plot. Im mean sure its a pretty big deal about duling but when u think about it its not that big like saying ok this is what is going to happen:Yugi enters the compitition and he is challenged by Mai he wins the duel but then is confronted by Mokuba. Like in this main plot story the duel is a little bit of it yet they waist so much time in it. Just like in battle city unless its the end part of that series it is all duel after duel after duel. Play duel monsters on Playstation if u want that kind of action. i have a lot more to say but hey i already wrote a lot already so Yu-Gi-Oh is ok but can use some changes. Oh and i cant brag u little 6 year old kids talken about what cads they have cause i really dont care.
