FF8 set a new standard in the FF series that this game didn't quite meet for me. But just recently I replayed it and I realized how cool it really is. If you haven't played any of the series, make sure you play them in the following order to maximum enjoyment. FF1,FF2,FF3,FF4,FF5,FF6,FF7,FF9,FF8,FF10 This way they just get better and better as you go. What happened? 7 and 8 were so good, and then this happened. The armor system was terrible: having to wear a particular piece of armor long enough to build up the AP to get a certain spell or ability--but having low defense and a lot of trouble in the process of learning it; because you can't put on that new, better armor yet--you haven't learned the skill on the one you're wearing! The story was half-assed to say the least; people who thought Ultimecia was a last minute final boss should be keeling now--at least you knew who she was by the third disc, instead in 9, the final boss is some guy who've never even heard of until about 20 seconds before the final battle ensues. What about Kuja? And speaking of Kuja...what the HELL was up with that guy? He was a really devicive character and nothing more, his motives suddenly turned to dust... Not to mention I hated the characters and thought they more totally two dimenshional, the main character, Zidane, especially. Garnet was just as bad. The card game was useless, the mog concentration was irritating, and above all, the mandatory Chocobo Hot and Cold was not only the most frustrating minigame in history, but it was totally fruitless in the end. You get nearly nothing for doing it.
